Foodies in the Park pop up

‘‘Where should I go?’’ said Alice. ”That depends on where you want to end up,” said The Cheshire Cat. Last night we were thrilled to join Calgary media and bloggers for a preview and tasting event of the incredible Foodies in the Park. Transparent domes holding four to six people will experience a four course lavish dinner or weekend afternoon tea. Foodies in the Park will be a month-long pop-up from mid April through mid May 2020. This is a very limited time event, and tickets are already selling fast. The dinner price starts at $195 to reserve a dome, and $98 per person. Booking for the weekend afternoon tea has a reduced menu price of $75 per person. A minimum of four meals must be booked

Free House in Kensington hits all the right notes

It was the perfect place to warm up last night, launching Kensington’s Free House. It’s a beer hall, bright and spacious with lots of hanging plants and big communal tables. It also happens to have some serious good eats; chef-driven items like roasted bone marrow with horseradish chimmi churro, crispy, cheesy flatbreads, marinated beets with goat cheese, and duck confit sandwiches. We were super impressed with the beer selection, celebrating the local small batch brew too. Save the date for the Free House community party on Wednesday, January 22 (5p.m. - 8p.m.), where you’ll get complimentary bites and beer samples. Reserve via, as it’s sure to sell out. We look forward

Situated in the old Janice Beaton spaces (unrelated), the restaurant faces 17 Ave SW, and the bakery can be entered through 16 Ave SW, just around the corner form Cafe Beano. The YUM bistro team are also the same folks at the Calgary Farmers Market (SE), created in 2009 by owners Debbie and David. They make artisan breads and delicious desserts from scratch, every day.
