Calgary International Film Festival - September 20 thru October 1

(Calgary, Canada) This year's Calgary International Film Festival opens tomorrow with a red-carpet gala at the Jack Singer Concert Hall (Arts Commons), followed by a screening of the documentary film, When they awake. One lucky winner from This Calgary Life will win two tickets to the film. To enter, visit our Facebook page and be the first to share why you want to attend the screening.

The 12-day festival runs until October 1, showcasing 200 multi-genre feature and short films from Canada and over 50 other countries. The festival hosts gala events, screenings, special presentations, and a Behind the Screen series that emphasizes unique and exciting ways for filmmakers and fans to interact. It is also an Oscar-qualifying festival for short films. Many of the film's Directors and film makers attend screenings of their films, where they talk about the making of it, and take questions (see schedule).

This year's lineup covers entries into the categories of Canadian, American, World Cinema, Documentaries, Music on Screen, Late Shows and Shorts.

FAN OF THE YEAR New this year, the Calgary International Film Festival presents the Fan of the Year award sponsored by Evans Hunt and Stone-Olafson. The winner, announced at our Awards Party on Sunday, October 1, will receive a travel voucher from Delta Air Lines worth $1,000.00.

We hope to see you there!
