It was the perfect place to warm up last night, launching Kensington’s Free House. It’s a beer hall, bright and spacious with lots of hanging plants and big communal tables. It also happens to have some serious good eats; chef-driven items like roasted bone marrow with horseradish chimmi churro, crispy, cheesy flatbreads, marinated beets with goat cheese, and duck confit sandwiches. We were super impressed with the beer selection, celebrating the local small batch brew too.
Only two weeks old, YUM bakery and bistro opened quietly on January 2, 2020. It’s a bright and open space, with several booths on the side and plenty of tables with window views. Lunching there yesterday, we absolutely loved the very Instagrammable toast board, all the breakfast favourites, and the fresh bakery treats. Situated in the old Janice Beaton spaces (unrelated), the restaurant faces 17 Ave SW, and the bakery can be entered through 16 Ave SW, just around the corner
Deee-licious Mat’s Diner! Way more than a diner, this is breakfast all day with a bonus of amazing Indian dishes too. I really loved its warm and friendly atmosphere, perfect for the Kensington food scene. I don’t venture across the river that much, unless I’m at Jubilee and in this case visiting my good friends at Parker PR. Thanks Bob for the special holiday lunch treat! #yycrestaurant #Matsdiner #yycfoodie #calgaryfoodie
